Thank you for taking an interest in Trout Creek Swiss Mountain Dogs! My name is Bonnie Huett, I reside in Carson in Skamania County, Washington. I'm a native to the beautiful Columbia River Gorge and have always called the area home. Prior to having Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs I worked for the US Forestry Service. My husband and started our married life with labrador retrievers and in 1997 we added our first the Swiss breeds, "Gonto", an Appenzeller Swiss Mountain Dog and then shortly there after I purchased my first Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and foundation bitch "Lexie" . Lexie was the start of something beautiful for me and she was what ignited my fierce passion for the breed. To date, you'll still find Lexie in all the dogs I've bred, she is an important part of the lineage of my dogs and heritage of the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.
Lexie herself was an accomplished bitch, she earned multiple working group placements, won a breed club specialty and went on to earn her Register of Merit (ROM) from the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America. Through Lexie, I have been blessed to have produce some wonderful examples of the breed that have done great things in the conformation ring and also as working and performance dogs. BISS CH Klaus of Trout Creek ROM LOM "Klaus" is who I'd call my first big show dog. Klaus was a top ranked special , earned numerous working group awards, won the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America's Top 20 and Top 20 People's Choice at the 2009 National Specialty and most importantly Klaus became a key stud dog in the swissy community earning his Register of Merit and later his Legion of Merit - Klaus produced numerous offspring that have since gone on to do well in the show ring and also that have had excellent orthopedic records. In present time, I have enjoyed the co-ownership of MBISS GCHP Trout Creek's Written Onna Star RN JHD HTADIs NWPD "Nash" with my dear friend Allison Allen. Nash has become one of the most decorated show dogs in breed history - he finished 2018 & 2019 at the #1 Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in America. Nash is still considered a fairly young stud dog, but I have great hopes in is offspring continuing my Trout Creek lines. |
Being a breeder isn't easy and takes a ton of effort on all fronts; time, energy, heartache, finances, and so much more, but I wouldn't give it up in second! I pride myself on trying to produce the best I can and always take temperament, structure, pedigree compatibility, and health clearances into account when making breeding decisions. These are all very important elements to breeding and not one is more paramount than the other. Whether a show dog, performance dog or family companion I want my dogs to be set up for the best possible success and hopefully live well into their seniors years.
I am an avid hiker and I hike my dogs daily on our property or in various places throughout the Pacific Northwest. Physical conditioning is a personal passion of mine; I love to see fit dogs that are getting both the mental and physical stimulation they thrive off of. In addition, I have participated in drafting/carting, herding, weight pull, obedience, and conformation with my dogs. I have been fortunate to make some lifelong friends with many of my puppies homes and breeding peers that that I frequently enjoy outings with our dogs. This is what it's all about, creating these lasting moments for myself, my dogs and my puppies homes. I try my hardest to keep my numbers down at home so each of my dogs can have the individual attention they all deserve and often this is facilitated through co-ownership arrangements. I can't begin to thank the families that have been so willing to work with me to help in the effort of continuing Trout Creek. For those interested in a puppy I strongly encourage to read about my puppy raising philosophy and also take the time to read the important articles on Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. If you're just need a puppy photo fix, take a look at my past litters page and you'll see thousand of photos of my puppies from the day of whelping up until they go to their new homes - these photos will highlight their care, enrichment, and puppy socialization outings. |
